Catching Fire AudioBook – written by Suzanne Collins
Rejoin Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the victors of the Seventy-Fourth Hunger
Games from District 12 as they experience the aftermath of their life altering decision in the conclusion of the Hunger Games. As the victors they must now travel to each district on the Victors Parade, where each district must treat them as royalty with gifts and a feast to celebrate their victory. Before the parade however President Snow pays Katniss an unexpected visit in her new house and tells her that her actions have not only angered the Capitol, but has begun to cause unrest in the other Districts and that she must do what she can to calm it or her loved ones will be put in danger.
Besides the encroaching pressure of the Capitol she begins to mentally prepare to become a mentor for the next two tributes who are to be thrown into the arena. This year is a special Hunger Games known as the Quarter Quell, which occurs every twenty fifth games and institutes a special rule that years games. This year Katniss is horrified to hear that the rule for this year is that the tributes to compete will be chosen from a district’s previous victors. Since Katniss is the only woman to win for her district that means she is automatically thrown back into the arena to once again and this time she may not be able escape alive.
This is the thrilling continuation of the Hunger Games trilogy, which takes place in the ruins of what used to be North America, known as Panem. Follow Carolyn McCormick as she throws not only her voice but the listeners back into the Hunger Games arena where we follow Katniss as not only has to protect her life but to protect Peeta as well, even knowing that she cannot save them both. Listen as Carolyn McCormick brings another added dimension not only to the characters we have gotten to know but also the previous victors as they all once again must fight for their lives to be crowned victor once again.
